Event Lighting Rental Los Angeles

Uplighting, moving heads, gobos and dance-floor light

Event Lighting · Los Angeles

Light decides how a room feels before anyone hears a note

Under flat house lights, a ballroom feels like a meeting room. Put amber on the walls, a soft pin spot on every centerpiece and your monogram on the dance floor, and the same room feels like your celebration. Event lighting rental in Los Angeles is how a venue stops looking rented and starts looking designed.

On Air Productions LA designs and operates event lighting throughout Los Angeles and Southern California: wireless LED uplighting, moving head lights, pin spots, custom gobo and monogram projection, dance floor and stage lighting, truss, haze and cold sparks. Our crew delivers it, focuses every fixture and stays to run it. The same team handles the DJ, sound and LED walls, so a lighting change can land exactly on the beat.

The plan starts with your room, your palette and the moments that matter — the entrance, the first dance, the hora, the keynote walk-on. A rooftop cocktail party in West Hollywood and a black-tie gala in a hotel ballroom call for different fixtures, different angles and a different kind of energy, so nothing arrives as a fixed package.

What We Provide

Every kind of event lighting, designed as one plan

Wireless Uplighting Rental

Uplighting is the quickest way to transform a room. Battery-powered LED fixtures stand on the floor along walls, columns and drapery and bathe them in whatever color you choose. With no cords to run, each light goes exactly where the room looks strongest, and nothing is taped down in front of guests. Our dedicated Los Angeles uplighting page goes deeper on palettes, fixture counts and venues.

  • Wireless, battery-powered LED uplights
  • Any color, matched to your invitation or florals
  • Color shifts cued from dinner into dancing
  • Discreet placement behind tables, tent poles and drapery

Moving Head Light Rental

Moving heads are intelligent fixtures: they pan, tilt, change color and reshape their beam on cue, which is what turns a dance floor into a show. Beam fixtures cut tight shafts of light through haze, spot fixtures throw crisp patterns and gobos, and wash fixtures cover a stage or floor in soft, even color.

Mounted on truss towers beside the DJ booth or hung above the floor, a handful of well-placed moving heads does more than a ceiling full of static lights. Our operator programs them to your music, so the room lifts the moment the dancing opens.

  • Beam, spot and wash moving heads
  • Programmed and run live by our lighting operator
  • Truss-mounted or floor-based beside the stage
  • Looks timed to the entrance, first dance and peak sets

Pin Spot Lighting for Tables & Cakes

A pin spot is a narrow, focused beam aimed at a single object — a centerpiece, the cake, the escort-card display, a welcome sign. Once the house lights come down, the florals and table settings seem to glow from within while the room around them stays soft. Photographers notice it first.

  • Focused light on centerpieces and florals
  • Spots for the cake, escort cards and displays
  • Dimmed to sit gently beside candlelight

Monogram & Custom Gobo Projection

A gobo is a small stencil set in front of a light to project a shape. A custom monogram gobo puts your initials, a family name or a company logo onto the dance floor, a wall or a draped ceiling. Pattern gobos — leaves, stars, soft textures — give depth to plain surfaces that would otherwise disappear at night.

  • Custom monogram and logo gobos
  • Lettering in English or Hebrew
  • Pattern gobos for walls, ceilings and drapery
  • Sized and focused for the surface you choose

Dance Floor Lighting & LED Dance Floors

The dance floor deserves its own lighting, separate from the dining room. Overhead washes, moving effects and color chases bring the floor alive when the party starts, while the tables stay calm and conversational. For a bigger statement, an LED dance floor glows from underneath, with patterns and colors that follow the music.

  • Dedicated lighting above the dance floor
  • LED dance floor rental
  • Color and movement that follow the DJ
  • Gentle light for dinner, full energy for dancing

Stage & Truss Lighting

Bands, speeches, award moments and DJ stages all need light that makes the people on them easy to see and easy to film. We combine front light for faces with color and effects behind, rigged on truss towers or an overhead truss built for the room. The same truss can carry moving heads, an LED wall or both.

  • Front light for toasts, speeches and bands
  • Truss towers and overhead truss
  • Lighting for keynotes, panels and awards
  • Camera-friendly light for photo and video

Haze, Cold Sparks & Special Effects

Haze is what makes a beam visible; without it, moving heads read as dots on a wall. A light, even haze gives every beam shape, and cold spark machines add a fountain of sparks for a grand entrance, a first dance or the moment the guest of honor walks in. Venues set their own rules on haze and effects, so we confirm yours well before the date.

  • Light haze for visible beams
  • Cold sparks for entrances and first dances
  • Every effect cleared with the venue in advance

For Every Kind of Event

Event lighting rental for weddings, mitzvahs, galas and parties

Wedding lighting

Pin spots on the florals through dinner, uplighting in your palette, a monogram glowing on the dance floor, then moving heads and haze when the party begins — a reception whose mood changes with the night, cued by one team.

Jewish & Israeli weddings and the hora

The hora earns its own lighting moment. As the circle forms, fast color and sweeping beams lift the room, then it settles again for what comes next. The chuppah gets gentle, flattering light so the ceremony looks as warm as it feels.

Bar & Bat Mitzvah lighting

Theme colors on every wall, the child's name projected in light, a bright entrance with cold sparks and a dance floor that feels like a club for the kids — with softer light at the parents' tables.

Corporate events & galas

Stage and podium light that reads well on camera, brand colors across the walls, logo gobos at the entrance and a properly lit room for the awards and the after-party, all run to the show schedule.

Quinceañeras & sweet 16s

A lit entrance for the guest of honor, a glowing dance floor, colors drawn from the dress or the theme, and lighting moments planned for the special dances the family has in mind.

Private parties

Birthdays, anniversaries and backyard celebrations: wireless uplights on trees and garden walls, dance-floor effects and a pin spot on the cake, set up without a single cable crossing the lawn.

Planning Guide

How to plan your event lighting

Start with the color story

Bring the invitation, the florals or a brand guide. Two or three tones usually look richer than a rainbow, and we can program one palette for dinner and a livelier one for dancing.

Count the walls, not the guests

How many uplights a room needs depends on its perimeter, columns and drapery, and on how dramatic you want it. A floor plan or a few photos of the venue let us plan the count precisely.

Decide on moving lights early

Moving heads and truss need floor space, a mounting point and sometimes ceiling clearance. Deciding early means the stage, DJ booth and dance floor can be laid out around them.

Ask the venue about haze

Some venues want notice before haze is used, some allow it only in certain rooms, and some do not allow it. We check with yours first, so every effect in the plan is one you can actually use.

Light for the camera

Good event lighting is also good photography lighting. Faces stay evenly lit for the toasts, the speeches and the first dance, so your photographer and videographer are not fighting colored shadows.

Hold your date early

Popular wedding and mitzvah weekends fill months ahead. Once the date is held, the design can keep evolving with your décor, your florist and the final floor plan.

Common Questions

Event Lighting Rental Los Angeles — FAQ

How many uplights do I need for my event?

The room decides it, not the guest count. A small private dining room may need only a few uplights, while a large ballroom with columns and drapery needs many more to look even. Send us a floor plan or a few photos of the venue and we will plan the count and placement.

What is the difference between wireless and wired uplights?

Wireless uplights run on batteries and are controlled without cables, so nothing crosses the floor and each one can sit anywhere — next to the bar, at the base of a tree, inside a tent. Wired fixtures need power runs and taped cables. For weddings and mitzvahs, wireless is the cleaner and safer option, and it is what we use.

What is a monogram gobo?

A monogram gobo is a custom stencil cut with your initials, names, a date or a logo. Set inside a light, it projects that design onto the dance floor, a wall or the ceiling. We design it with you, in English or Hebrew lettering, and focus it on the surface that suits your room.

What is the difference between uplighting, pin spots and dance floor lighting?

Uplighting washes walls, columns and drapery in color and sets the mood of the whole room. Pin spots are narrow beams that make centerpieces, the cake and display tables stand out. Dance floor lighting — moving heads, washes and effects — brings movement where people dance. Most events use all three together.

Should I rent moving heads or wash lights?

They do different jobs. Wash lights cover a stage or floor in soft, even color; moving heads change position, color and beam shape on cue and create the movement people associate with a packed dance floor. Many events use washes for dinner and speeches and bring in moving heads once the dancing starts.

Can you use haze or fog at my venue?

Often, but the venue always has the final word. Some require advance notice, some allow haze only in certain spaces, and some do not allow it at all. We raise it with your venue early and design the effects around their rules.

Will the lighting look good in photos and video?

Yes, when it is planned with the camera in mind. We keep faces evenly lit for the toasts, the first dance and the speeches, avoid harsh colored light on skin, and speak with your photographer and videographer before the day so the room looks as good on screen as it does in person.

Can you match the lighting to our color palette?

Yes. LED fixtures can be set to almost any color, so we match your invitation, florals, theme or brand colors, and we can change the palette live — warm and elegant for dinner, bolder once the dancing begins.

Should I rent an LED dance floor or dance floor lighting?

Dance floor lighting comes from above and around the floor and works on any surface. An LED dance floor lights from underneath, with colors and patterns that move with the music, and becomes a centerpiece in the photos. Some clients choose one; many combine the two.

Do you set up and operate the lighting during the event?

Yes. Our crew delivers, places and focuses every fixture, and an operator stays through the event to run the cues — dinner, the entrance, the first dance, the hora, the last song. Afterwards we take everything down. You never have to touch a light.

How much does event lighting rental cost in Los Angeles?

Each quote is built around your event: the size of the room, how many uplights and moving heads, whether you need truss, a custom gobo, an LED dance floor or effects like haze and cold sparks, plus the hours and the venue's load-in. Contact us for a personalized quote.

“My son's Bar Mitzvah was the talk of the school for weeks. The DJ knew exactly which songs to play for a room of 13-year-olds and kept them dancing for four straight hours. The foam cannon at the end was the highlight of the entire night. Incredible!”

“On Air Productions played at our Persian wedding and they were absolutely perfect. They understood the flow of a Persian wedding completely — the classical music during dinner, the mix of Persian and Western pop, the energy building throughout the night. Our families were blown away.”
